The discussion between Foreign MInister of Malaysia Syed Hamid Albar and UN Secretary General Kofi Annan (Jan. 20th. K L. Bernama. rebound88) points to Asean engagement in Burma's political deadlock. President of Indonesia Yudhoyono might be doing the same when he visits Rangoon next month. Whatever the reason and motive in these processes Burma should show sensibility now before proddings come from outsiders.
Problems in Burma are the result of our internal affairs, like a family feud. When a family feud becomes deadlocked, then outsider will come in as friendly neighbors. It will be more sensible, and also responsible for people concerned to solve their own problem by themselves. We all should remember the famous cartoonist U Ba Gyan who portrayed in one of his works " A pounding elbow on your thigh; it is alway milder doing it on yourself; never expect the same when somebody else is doing it"
I will request foreign Burmese news agencies working on reconciliation in Burma should contact the nonpartisan senior veteran politicians, like Thakhin Thein Pe, Thakhin Chan Tun; Amyotharyay U Win Naing , surviving members of the Thirty Comrades ( like Bogyoke Kyaw Zaw etc.), to stand up and request all parties concerned to meet, and start talking without preconditions. This will show that Burmese are sensible people too. ( Even U Ne Win had that kind of sensibility to talk to his enemies for general amnesty in early 60's)
I hope my humble request could be honoured, without pride and prejudice, for the sake of our beloved country and people in great despair.
