Sir, The new list of companies doing business in Burma published by the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions (report, June 29) highlights yet again the role of companies in sustaining Burma's military dictatorship.
Figures released by the UK government reveal that since 1998 imports from Burma into the UK have more than tripled, from £17.3m to £62.2m in 2003. The European Union must impose targeted economic sanctions that will stop European companies funding Burma's regime.
